Mowing down fuel waste and sowing the seeds for efficient fleet management
Daisy's Garden Supplies were on a mission to digitise their fleet management processes and administration tasks.
At the same time, they were looking to vastly improve the way they monitor their fleet's fuel usage and costs. Daisy's decided that the best solution to this would be to add fuel records from bulk fuel and fuel card providers into their chosen fleet maintenance platform — the problem was, not many platforms have this solution included or an easy integration option.
Daisy's turned to Fleetio to fulfil their fleet maintenance and management needs, and also wanted to continue using their existing bulk fuel infrastructure and preferred fuel card provider Ampol.
Fleetyr was approached to connect the dots and solve these complex integrations.
Automated fuel transactions for powerful reporting visibility
We first helped Daisy's by creating an automatic ingestion of their Ampol fuel card data into Fleetio, scheduled to run on a daily basis. The format and structure of the data needed to be carefully transformed and cleaned in order to feed the data into Fleetio and reflect accurate results.
Next, we created a data ingestion for their bulk fuel provider. The tricky part was that the bulk fuel provider did not supply the price per litre that Daisy's wanted. We integrated the Victoria-based weekly "gate price" of bulk fuel and matched it to the time and date of the fill-up so that Daisy's could see their fuel spend clearly.
We tested the integration performance thoroughly with the Daisy's team, who now have nearly 1,000 fuel transactions automatically flowing into their Fleetio portal monthly, including handy metrics like Asset ID, Vendor, Volume, and Total Spend.

Leveraging optimised fuel efficiency to cultivate a culture of intelligent fleet analytics
Previously, adding fuel records was a manual, time-consuming, and error-prone process. Now, we've automated this process for Daisy's, giving their fleet and accounting team more time to focus on more meaningful and productive tasks.
These custom integrations allowed Daisy's to effectively and efficiently monitor their fuel economy, usage, and costs — all at 1/3 the cost of a litre of fuel.
